Well, fellow buffaloes, our school year is officially underway. We are a few weeks into school now, we beat the CSU Rams, and the first round of midterms are fast approaching. Organizations on and off campus are also hard at work and still have positions open and available. SMµ÷½ÌËù Student Government is one of those organizations and we are looking for passionate, hardworking and fun-loving students who want to be involved on campus.

Looking for volunteer opportunities? Monthly Give-A-Days are a great way to become involved through volunteering around Boulder.

The SMµ÷½ÌËù Boulder Psychology Department is looking for participants for experiments about learning, memory, perception and language.

Join the SMµ÷½ÌËù Environmental Center as it launches the new Eco-Engage Events Program on Saturday, Sept. 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program's first excursion will take students on a tour of sustainable and local food systems on campus and in Boulder, including SMµ÷½ÌËù dining, the Boulder Farmers' Market, Boulder Food Rescue and two local organic farms. The deadline to enroll is Sept. 6.

With the second week of school wrapping up and many new and returning Buffs settled in, this weekend would be a good time to explore Boulder and the surrounding areas. Housing and Dining Services offers some tips.

The Center for Student Involvement will host a grand opening celebration for its new office and resource center in UMC room 330 on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2 to 4 p.m. Check out the new space and learn what the center can do for you or your student group.

When Daphne Virlar-Knight (EBio’17) graduates in May, she will have spent four years with The Herd, one of SMµ÷½ÌËù Boulder’s largest student groups on campus. The group coordinates several university traditions including the Nearly Naked Mile — the largest student clothing drive at SMµ÷½ÌËù, the St. Baldrick’s Day fundraiser for youth cancer survivors, professional development workshops and football tailgates.
