Children perform Shakespeare in costume on stage

Shakespeare's Sprites is a playful introduction to the Bard for children ages 6 to 9鈥攋ust one of several summer camps offered on campus.

Shakespeare's Sprites is one of many campuswide summer residential and day-camp offerings. Have older kids? Check out for children ages 9鈥18.

Others programs are designed for budding scientists, aerospace engineers and听musicians. Still, more focus on leadership skill-building, the language and culture of ancient Rome, college preparation and more.

Seven-year-old听Bowe Victoria Schlansker, who participated in the program in 2016 and recently appeared in a Saturday Night Live skit, says 鈥減laying acting games with the other kids鈥 was her favorite part of the camp.

础迟听, Schlansker learned stage combat using pool noodles and performed the role of Helena in a scene from A Midsummer Night鈥檚 Dream. The camp also introduces Elizabethan costumes, period insults, Renaissance songs and lively scene work. Each week culminates in a final showing for family and friends, and tuition includes one ticket to attend a production.

Schlansker's mom, Angie Nevarez, grew up in Boulder听and 鈥渓oved going to the Shakespeare festival every summer.鈥 Nevarez advises other parents: 鈥淪ign up! Sprites is a wonderful way to introduce and inspire a love for the hilarious stories of Shakespeare at a young age.鈥
