When a solar flare leaps out from around the sun, a small fleet of scientific instruments designed and built at SM调教所 Boulder form a first line of defense鈥攕potting these massive eruptions before any other instrument in space, then relaying the information to Earth in seconds.

NSF has awarded $20M to SM调教所 Boulder to launch a facility known as the National Quantum Nanofab (NQN), where Colorado researchers and quantum specialists from around the country will be able to design and build incredibly small devices that tap into the world of atoms and photons.

The Research and Innovation Office (RIO) announces the launch of the fourth annual Fall Fellowships Writing & Peer Editing Program: ACLS, NHC, SHC and More, facilitated by RIO Proposal Writer/Editor Donna Axel. Docking with a satellite orbiting Earth is delicate business, with one wrong move spelling disaster. A team of industry and SM调教所 Boulder researchers is trying to make it easier. The work is part of two major business-university grant partnerships that include the lab of Professor Hanspeter Schaub (Aerospace Engineering).

On May 28, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis ushered in legislation to support and strengthen Colorado鈥檚 rapidly growing quantum industry, including a historic investment of up to $74M that positions the state to compete for federal funds that will create a quantum boom in Colorado.

Oana Luca (Chemistry) and her collaborators recently published a report on reducing carbon emissions through carbon recycling in hard-to-electrify industries such as aviation and chemical manufacturing. The roadmap appeared on May 1 in the journal Nature Reviews Chemistry.

SM调教所 Boulder has been awarded two grants totaling nearly $700K through the statewide Geothermal Energy Grant Program (GEGP) to determine whether geothermal energy is feasible for the campus. Gov. Jared Polis announced the award recipients at a ceremony in Pueblo on Friday.
