While the majority of attendees at SMµ÷½ÌËù Boulder are traditional students, the university serves the needs of a wide variety of nontraditional students as well. Each registration program or student type may have different registration and enrollment stipulations.
Nondegree students are able to enroll in SMµ÷½ÌËù Boulder Main Campus courses (undergraduate or graduate) throughÌýContinuing Education. Some ACCESS students take courses for personal or professional development, while others plan to enroll in a degree program at SMµ÷½ÌËù Boulder in the future.
Auditors
Community members age 18 and older who aren't registered studentsÌýare eligible to listen in on regularly scheduled lectures through the Division of Continuing Education's auditors program. For more information, visit Ìýor contact the Division of Continuing Education at 303-492-5148.
Current Students
Current students are not eligible to audit a class; however, they may enroll in a class and change the grade mode to "No Credit Basis (Audit)." The student wouldÌýpay tuition and be officially enrolled, but would receive a grade ofÌýNC for the class, which does not impactÌýGPA. To learn more about grade modes, see Edit Your Class Options.
Discontinued as of Fall 2020, the Colorado Graduate Exchange Program allowed SMµ÷½ÌËù Boulder graduate students to take courses at other Colorado colleges and universities without applying at the host campusÌýand at no additional cost. The program was an agreement between the following state-supported institutions of Colorado:
- University of Colorado
- Colorado State University
- Colorado School of Mines
- University of Northern Colorado
AdmittedÌýdegree-seeking or nondegree faculty, staff and dependent studentsÌýnotÌýusing the tuition assistance benefit can register for classesÌýwithoutÌýadditional paperworkÌýduring their assigned enrollment dates or open enrollment.

The high school ACCESS program is intended for high school students interested in the challenge of completing college courses at SMµ÷½ÌËù Boulder. Students in the program earn college credit that may also be applied to high school graduation requirements. The intercampus enrollment program enables students to take a course on another SMµ÷½ÌËù campus if they are unable to take the course at SMµ÷½ÌËù Boulder. If students plan to take at least one class at SMµ÷½ÌËù Boulder, they are able to request to register on another SMµ÷½ÌËù campus as well.ÌýSeeÌýÌýfor the full policy.

Deadlines & Restrictions

Before the add/drop deadline of the host campus, a student may drop/add a class taken on another SMµ÷½ÌËù campus by emailing their home campus registrar's office.

After the deadline, students must secure a host campus add/drop form with the appropriate signatures and turn itÌýin to the host campus registrar's office. After a deadline, students may be assessed W grades and full tuition and fees.

Once enrolled, students must be aware that many services at theÌý³ó´Ç²õ³ÙÌý³¦²¹³¾±è³Ü²õ will not be available, because students do not pay the required fees (if any) for these services.

Intercampus Registration
If a student wants to take coursework on another SMµ÷½ÌËù campus but not go through the intercampus enrollmentÌýprogram, they must apply for admission to that campus, follow its registration procedures, and check with the dean's office for approval. Students may apply as nondegree students or as degree-seeking students. (Students in the College of Arts and Sciences may not register at the SMµ÷½ÌËù Denver or UCCSÌýexcept in the summer.)Ìý
